वेरे इ तो बे अ Man

Were I to be a man-
I know I can, I know I can,

I know I could do the
impossible,
achieve
the unimaginable

Be Aristotle's student in some far-off distant land.

Would my X to by a Y-
inside my mother's womb-

I'd have the strength of a
two-fold lion

And free Jesus from the tomb.

Or to be his disciple,
for a week or two,

To pray without my head being covered, my soul
knows this I could do.

I'd be the yang
instead of the yin-
I'd go inside
instead of coming in

I'd kiss her face, her lips, her brow
I'd love a woman all-around.

I would be the image of God,
not the image of man,

I don't have a choice, but
I know that I can.
